Zenzo Connect -- Developer API Terms
Effective Date: January 1, 2025
Zenzo Connect offers APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and developer tools to help tech-savvy users, businesses, and community organizations build apps, automate workflows, or integrate services with the Zenzo platform.
These Developer API Terms ("Terms") govern your use of any Zenzo API and are part of our overall Terms of Service. By accessing or using Zenzo's APIs, you agree to follow these rules.
1. Who Can Use Zenzo APIs
Zenzo APIs are available to:
-
Verified developers building tools for the diaspora community
-
Service providers integrating Zenzo with existing apps (e.g., booking or messaging tools)
-
Startups enhancing user experience (e.g., community apps for churches, co-ops, or remittance tools)
Example: A Nigerian-owned app that connects immigrant tutors to students could use the Zenzo API to sync community event listings or automate business page updates.
2. Permitted Uses
You may use Zenzo's APIs to:
-
Display public Zenzo content (like community event posts or local business listings)
-
Connect users to Zenzo tools from within your app or platform
-
Automate or customize how your business interacts with your Zenzo Page or Group
You may not:
-
Use Zenzo data to build a competing social platform
-
Scrape, clone, or republish user content outside Zenzo without permission
-
Use the API for spamming, surveillance, or data resale
3. User Privacy and Data Security
If your app accesses user data (e.g., names, profiles, contacts), you must:
-
Ask for explicit consent
-
Use the data only for the intended purpose
-
Delete data upon user request or if access is no longer needed
-
Protect the data with industry-standard security practices
Example: If you build a community jobs app that pulls Zenzo job posts, you must not store user info for marketing unless they opt in.
4. Branding and Attribution
You may use the Zenzo name, logo, or API only with:
-
Prior written permission, or
-
As allowed by a published Zenzo Developer Badge/Integration Guide (coming soon)
If you're publicly listing your app or integration, say:
"Powered by Zenzo Connect API" (if approved).
5. Rate Limits and Fair Use
Zenzo may limit how often you can make API calls to protect system stability. Excessive or abusive use --- such as pulling thousands of posts per minute --- may result in:
-
Temporary suspension
-
Permanent revocation of API access
6. Updates and Changes
We may:
-
Update the API from time to time
-
Require you to adapt your app to new versions
-
Deactivate older versions that are no longer secure or supported
7. Enforcement and Termination
We may revoke your API access if:
-
You violate these Terms or any applicable law
-
You compromise user data or platform security
-
Your tool generates complaints or harms the Zenzo brand
8. Build for the Community
Zenzo was created to support and connect immigrants around the world. If you're using our developer tools, we encourage you to build solutions that:
-
Empower your community
-
Respect users' trust and dignity
-
Help small businesses grow and thrive
